What’s your morning ritual?

I’m a firm believer that what you choose to do when you wake up sets the tone for the rest of your day. If you are a slave to your phone and social media first thing in the morning, it has the potential to immediately drain you and put you in a bad mood. For this reason, a couple years ago, I decided this was a bad habit I needed to break out of.
First thing I usually do is give my dog, Douglas, a big squeeze. And as odd as it may sound, after brushing my teeth and drinking a glass of water, I like to do a quick tidy of my loft – putting the pillows on my couch back in place, putting any dishes left on the table into the dishwasher, folding up blankets etc. I find that doing a mundane/mindless task like this actually allows me to connect with my thoughts and focus on what I have to accomplish for the day, while also moving the needle forward. For me, it’s a win-win.

Early riser or hit the snooze button?

This depends! Pre-pandemic, I was always out of bed during the week between 5:30-6:30 a.m. No excuses. For the past few months, I’ve allowed myself a bit more grace to stay in bed until around 7:30/8 a.m. So now, I will either not set an alarm or hit the snooze button once or twice 😊. On weekends, we stay in bed for a little longer than during the week.

    Coffee or tea?

      Coffee!

      What’s your favourite breakfast?

If I had it my way, I’d eat shakshuka for breakfast every day. Either that, or avocado toast with feta cheese on top.

Do you make your bed in the morning?
I don’t feel like my house is tidy unless the bed is made and I think making the bed every day is an important habit for anyone to form. Plus, when you have great sheets and a great duvet, you want them looking good on their bed every day. That being said, this particular task is designated to my husband, since I do the other tidying in the morning.

What song makes you feel ready to take on the day?

Good question! I usually don’t listen to music in the morning. But I guess I’d say something upbeat or whatever my favourite song at the moment is. Right now, it’s Beyoncé – Already.

Do you change your sheet style with the seasons?

Not typically. We like a nice, white duvet all year ‘round. We have about 3-4 sheet sets that we regularly cycle through, but it’s not dependent on the seasons.

            What’s on your bedside table?

We don’t have room for one (gotta love condo living!). But, I do usually put my 2 phones on my window ledge. Other things on our window ledge include photos of us and Douglas.

Describe your bedroom in five words.

              Sanctuary for relaxation and rest.

              Describe yourself in three words.

                Hardworking, passionate, creative.

How do you exercise your mind?

Staying up to date with current events and listening to audiobooks on educational topics.

What’s your favourite way to move your body?

Power yoga and HIIT (high intensity interval training).

Snacking in bed – okay or no way?

Usually no way. But recently have opened up to the occasional breakfast in bed 😉.

                  Shower or bath?

                  Shower

How do you wind down for the night?

My husband and I love to binge a good Netflix series or watch one of our favourite TV series. I need at least 1-2 hours of mindless, guilty pleasure TV watching before bed!
